2. FACILITIES AND ASSETS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

We have the following facilities and assets namely:
i. The Internet facility with well equipped computer facility.
ii. Aquaguard for save drinking water.
iii. Separate study table for each of the faculty member.
iv. We have well equipped laboratory for both Major and general courses.

3. EXCURSION/FIELD WORK FOR STUDENTS:

According to the syllabus prescribed by Gauhati University, we have to make field tour or excursion regularly for the major and General course. Mainly degree 1st semester, 5th semester and 6th semester students have to go for excursion to collect specimen and to visit the different places of biological importance.
Local tours are generally preferred although to satisfy the needs of the students, sometimes we have to visit the place of interest out-side the state.

4. EXHIBITION/SEMINAR/POPULAR TALKS/TRAINING:

THE students are always inspired to take part in such type of important activities by the teachers. Under the guidance of the teacher, they frequently take part in exhibition or seminars or popular talks which are organized by the college, department or any other organization having educational potentialities.
Exhibition on “SAVE ENVIRONMENT-SAVE LIFE” was played by 6th semester students. Model proposed on “OZONE DEPLETION, RECITATION ON THE OZONE DEPLETION, MAN AND ANIMAL CONFLICTS” are some of the environmental related topics played by the students of the department.
Seminars are arranged/ organized regularly among the students on syllabus related topic. Students also participated in the seminar organized by other institute.( ADP College training programme on “VERMICOMPOST” was carried on 2016 by the help of TISS (TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE)

5. ENROLLMENT OF STUDENTS:

a. In the year 2011:: 20 Nos of students were admitted ( 4 nos Major, 16 Nos for General).
b. In the year 2012:: 32 Nos of students were admitted ( 18 nos Major, 14 Nos for General).
c. In the year 2013:: 23 Nos Major of students were admitted.
d. In the year 2014:: 19 Nos Major of students were admitted.
e. In the year 2015:: 25 Nos Major of students were admitted.

9. REMEDIAL COURSES CONDUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT:

Remedial classes are taken as per instruction of the authority. The department also taken special treatment for those students with learning difficulties on need basis.
Poor students are helped by the teacher by giving books, journals and financially helps to the needy one

13. NATIONAL SEMINAR/ CONFERENCE CONDUCTED:

In the year 2014 on 27 the – 28th June, a national seminar had been organized in our department on a highly relevant topic ” Conservation of Biodiversity, Natural Perspective and Sustainable Development”.

14. AVERAGE WORKLOAD IN TERMS OF ACTUAL CONTACT/ LECTURE PER WEEK/TEACHER:

22 classes per week per teacher including practicals have to be performed.


15. AVERAGE TIME SPENT BY TEACHER WITH STUDENTS/DAY:

At least four to five hours per day have to be spent by a teacher with the students. At the time of practical works sometimes it is increased.

16. STUDENTS TEACHER RATIO:

a. For Major Courses the ratio is 1:15
b. For General Courses the ratio is 1:33
